Luggage, pets, strollers

Due to limited space onboard, luggage is only permitted if previously booked online at a cost of €20.00 per item.

The maximum size accepted per item is: 75 x 50 x 30cm.

Any piece of luggage exceeding the indicated dimensions will incur a second supplement.

Prior booking is necessary for: suitcases and trolley bags of any size, large travel backpacks, backpacks, travel bags or sports bags.

Prior booking is not required for: women’s handbags, cameras, standard size backpacks (up to 20L).

How to pre-book: during the cruise booking, under the selection step for options (adults, minors, lunches…), there is an option where you can enter the number of extra bags to take onboard.

If you enter a value higher than the remaining availability, please write to us at info@ilburchiello.it. Our collaborators will verify any additional availability and will get back to you as soon as possible.

– Taking onboard any non-booked luggage will only be permitted in relation to the availability of space within the designated area and will entail the payment of the supplement plus a fine of €10.00.

Dogs are allowed onboard providing they are of a small/medium size and are on a lead and wearing a muzzle.

However, prior notification is required by calling our offices on (+39) 049 8760233 or emailing info@ilburchiello.it at the time of booking.

Ps: it is important to mention that animals are not allowed inside Villa Pisani. At the other villas, animals are only allowed in the park; for this reason, it is advisable to cruise with others in your party in order to be able to rotate visiting the interiors of the villas.

Yes, folding prams are allowed onboard, but please notify our office on (+39) 049 8760233 prior to departure.

Lunch

There are not any other places to have lunch in the immediate vicinity of the pontoon, so we invite guests who do not wish to dine at the Il Burchiello restaurant to bring a packed lunch with them.

Those who have not already booked lunch at the time of booking the cruise can request a reservation upon boarding, and our guide will contact the restaurant to check the remaining availability.

Please note: the limited time for lunch of around an hour means you cannot book lunch on arrival at the restaurant.

The “Tiepolo” option costing € 25.00 offers 3 different menus (fish, meat and vegetarian):
– The fish-based menu includes: tris of Venetian cichèti: sarda in saor (typical sardine fried with onion, pine nuts and raisins), sepe col nero (typical Venetian black cuttlefish served on white polenta), baccalà mantecato (traditional cream based on stockfish emulsified with oil, accompanied by polenta), linguine with seafood; a side-dish of seasonal vegetables, fresh seasonal fruit salad with ice-cream, 1/4 liter wine and 1/2 liter mineral water.

– The meat-based menu includes: welcome starter with sliced dried beef, rocket and Parmesan; tagliatelle with speck and zucchini; a side-dish of seasonal vegetables; fresh seasonal fruit salad with ice-cream; 1/4 liter wine and 1/2 liter mineral water.

– The vegetarian menu includes: a side-dish of seasonal vegetables, bruschette with fresh tomato and basil, tagliolini with courgettes and cherry tomatoes;, fresh seasonal fruit salad with ice-cream, 1/4 liter wine and 1/2 liter mineral water.

The “Casanova” option costing € 29.00 includes: tris of Venetian cichèti: sarda in saor (typical sardine fried with onion, pine nuts and raisins), sepe col nero (typical Venetian black cuttlefish served on white polenta), baccalà mantecato (traditional cream based on stockfish emulsified with oil, accompanied by polenta), mixed grilled fish made up of salmon, gilthead seabream’s fillet and shrimp, fresh seasonal fruit salad with ice-cream, 1/4 liter wine and 1/2 liter mineral water.

The “Kids” option (until 12 years old) costing € 15.00 includes: schnitzel and chips; fresh seasonal fruit salad with ice-cream; 1/2 liter mineral water.

If you would like to have lunch at the restaurant, we suggest that you book your chosen menu at the same time as booking the cruise.

Please note: due to the limited time for lunch, it is not possible to order from the regular menu.

On-board services, boarding, parking and boarding docks

From the “San Zaccaria A” pontoon in Venice in Riva degli Schiavoni, you can reach the “Santa Lucia” train station (to return by train) or Piazzale Roma (to return by bus):

  • On foot (approx 45 minutes): by following the directions on plaques on the buildings;
  • By boat (around 30 minutes): using vaporetto line 5.1 from the San Zaccaria A pontoon (around 3 minutes on foot from the cruise pontoon).

From the Portello pontoon in Padua you can easily reach the train station (to return to Venice by train) and the Busitalia bus station in Viale della Pace (to return to Venice by bus):

  • on foot (approx 20 minutes): the train station and the bus station are adjacent to each other.
  • by APS bus: route 18 on weekdays, route 12 on public holidays, from the stop in Via Venezia (Fiera Padova) near the pontoon (see map).
  • by taxi.

No, unfortunately it is not possible to board the boat at other moorings – only the aforementioned Stra, Oriago and Malcontenta.

Yes, you can board the boat at Malcontenta after reporting to our offices. You can join the group for the villa visit at 10.20. Once the cruise is over, you can return to collect your car by ACTV bus.

There are various carparks near the Portello pontoon in Padua which are marked on the map (last page of the PDF.

You can make use of the carpark next to the Villa Pisani in Stra (see map). Once the cruise is over, you can return to collect your car by ACTV bus.

In Oriago you can park at the Il Burchiello restaurant; once the cruise is over, you can return to collect your car by ACTV bus.

Yes, you can board the boat in Stra after reporting to our offices. You can join the group for the visit to the Villa Pisani at 09.20 in front of the villa entrance.

Yes, throughout the cruise there will be a guide onboard to provide an interesting commentary about the various villas along the river, the locks and the swivelling bridges. The guide will also accompany you around the interior of the villas and park areas during the visits.

No, seats are not numbered, so every traveller seats where they find a free seat; seats cannot be booked.

All boats offer a bar service. Also the smallest boats with 50 seats feature a mini-bar with coffee, drinks and snacks. All the services offered by the bars are at a charge.
Since our boats are motor-ships designed for the public transportation of people, they are all fitted with restrooms.

It is necessary to show up for boarding at least 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time, with the boarding vouchers received (printed or digital version).

Rates, discounts, invoices and payments

The accepted methods of payment include:

  • Credit card (VISA/MasterCard);
  • Bank transfer (within 48 hours of making the booking) to the following account details:

Indicate the booking number in the reason for payment box (BOL_*****) and the name of the guest, it is therefore important to send the full transaction reference number as soon as possible (or TRN) via e-mail to the address info@booking-on-line.com or via fax to (+39) 049 8763410;

  • Postal order (within 48 hours of making the booking) made payable to:

  • It is also possible to pay directly at our offices in Padua, located on Via Porciglia 34, within 24 hours of making the booking.

Please note: payment by postal order or bank transfer is only accepted for bookings made at least 5 days before the date of the cruise.

At the time of booking, you are required to make a full payment. Those who have not booked online will be able to go straight to the pontoon and, after checking the availability, will be able to pay onboard

It is possible to request an invoice during the online booking, checking “Yes” to the question “Do you want to request an invoice?” a regular tax receipt is issued.

Once the tour has ended, it will no longer be possible to request an invoice since the tax receipt is issued on the date of travel

Holders of the PadovaCard and Italian Touring Club cards are entitled to a 10% discount on the navigation package (lunches and bags excluded). The reservation must be made by calling our offices, requesting the discount and communicating the details of the agreements card that will be requested from operator.

There are no discounts for guests over 65 years.

The rate always includes navigation, the guide on board, during the navigation, and the entrance ticket and the guided visit to Villa Widmann.

Reservations, cancellations, possibility of giving a tour as a gift

The boat can accommodate people with disabilities, although has limited space. Unfortunately, access to the boarding pontoons and the frescoed interiors of the villas is difficult due to staircases and architectural barriers: it is therefore necessary to have one or more companions who are able to assist in these situations.

In case of cancellation of the cruise, our conditions impose the following penalties:

• 50% of the total amount, if the cancellation is made no later than 5 days in advance;

• 100% of the total amount, if the cancellation is made after this deadline, or in the event of a no-show.

Our website www.ilburchiello.it and the website www.padovanavigli.it both contain the dates and the availability of both day and night cruises (evening cruises including dinner or live music).

You can gift a cruise on the Burchiello in the following ways:

if you know the date of departure and the extras you wish to include, you can proceed with the booking at www.booking-on-line.com, inserting the names and mobile phone numbers of the travelling party.

– If, however, you do not know the date of departure, you can email us at info@ilburchiello.it or call (+39) 049 8760233, requesting to buy an open-dated ticket which the recipients can use within an agreed period of time.

Depending on your chosen method of payment, the system will send you the appropriate instructions by email:

credit card: at the time of payment, the user will be transferred to the secure payment system where they will be instructed to enter their credit card details. Once the transaction is complete, the user will be returned to the booking system and able to download their ticket, which will also be sent via email along with useful information on how to reach the boarding pontoons and how to return to the departure locations.
In the event that the transaction is unsuccessful, please see the email sent by the system containing a link to try again: if the second attempt is also unsuccessful, please contact our offices on the following email address info@ilburchiello.it indicating your reservation number and the problem you encountered.

bank transfer: the system will send an email indicating the bank details and the time within which to make a payment.

Bookings which have already been made are not modifiable: to add extra services, simply book these separately.

You can check the availability of a specific date online on our booking website www.booking-on-line.com.

In the event that there is no availability online for a specific date, you can contact our offices by email on info@ilburchiello.it or by calling (+39) 049 8760233 to check for any cancellations.

Bookings can be made:

online on the website www.booking-on-line.com: the user can independently check, in real time, the availability of cruises for a particular date and can therefore book immediately online using a credit card (VISA or MasterCard) or pay by bank transfer. Once the payment has been made, the transaction will be confirmed and the user will receive a boarding pass by email.

by contacting our offices on (+39) 049 8760233 or by emailing info@ilburchiello.it and paying by credit card, bank transfer or directly in cash at l’Agenzia Antoniana Viaggi di Padova (the Antoniana Travel Agency in Padua), found on Via Porciglia 34 (on the corner of Via Morgagni).

The availability of seats onboard is limited: it is therefore advisable to book the cruise well in advance in order to guarantee seats.

It is, however, possible to check the availability of seats in real time at any moment, even by date, simply by visiting our website or contacting our offices.

Booking the cruise in advance is necessary in order to guarantee the availability of seats onboard.

Those who have not booked are, however, advised to go to the boarding gate at least 20 minutes before the scheduled departure time to see if there is any availability: our onboard staff will be able to let you know if there is space.

Tour, navigation and return to place of departure

The Burchiello only completes a one-way trip per day. The return to your town/city of departure is not included and should be organised and carried out at your expense using the frequent bus service (Venice – Padua/Padua– Venice taking around 45 minutes) or by train (also around 45 minutes).

If there is an interruption after departure to the cruise outside of our control, the organisation will complete the excursion by coach. If the cruise is cancelled before departure, guests will be fully refunded.

Our cruise boats are covered, equipped with comfortable cabins and air conditioning, so we run regularly, even in bad weather. It is therefore advisable to always turn up for the tour, unless you receive prior communication from the organisation.

Cruises are scheduled:

Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday departing from Venice

Wednesday/Friday/Saturday and Sunday departing from Padua

We do not operate on Mondays as it is a rest day for the lock-keepers.

During some periods of the year – and especially during public holidays – additional cruises can be scheduled from Padua including on Mondays or on other days during the week: for further information, please take a look at the section dedicated to “extra departures” via the following link http://www.ilburchiello.it/it/tour; alternatively, you can check availability for your date of interest on the booking portal www.booking-on-line.com.

We run cruises daily between March and early November.

During the winter there are no scheduled cruises; it is however possible to rent boats privately for group outings on request.

The departure time is unique. For this reason we ask our Guests to show up at the wharf 10 minutes earlier than the departure time.

-Departure from Padua: 08.00 am (meeting with the guide 07.50 am)

– Departure from Venice: hours 09.00 (meeting with the guide 08.50)

– Departure from Oriago to Padua: 1.15 pm (meeting with the guide at 01.05 pm)

– Departure from Oriago to Venice: 2.15 pm (meeting with the guide at 2.05 pm).

The tours can be full day, departing from terminus cities of Padua or Venice, or half-day with departure / arrival in Oriago from / to the terminus cities of Padua or Venice.

Visit of the Villas, languages on board

Yes, admission tickets to the villas are included in the basic cruise package (cruise, guide, admission tickets to the villas).

Visits last about an hour – enough time to learn about the building and to give guests time to appreciate the villa.

– The full day tour includes visits to three villas: Villa Pisani, Villa Widmann and Villa Foscari “La Malcontenta”;

– The half day tour from Oriago to Padova or vice versa includes a visit to two villas: Villa Pisani and Villa Widmann;

– The half day tour from Oriago to Venice or vice versa includes a visit to one villa: Villa Foscari “La Malcontenta”;

The languages available on board are: Italian, English, French and German.
